In a word: fantastic. July 24, 2010 Brandon (Florida) I chose to get the ATH-EM7 phones for work use because of the great reviews I saw on here. It doesn't hurt that they look sharp and very distinctive either. Once I got 'em, I was addicted and wanted a pair for my new Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player.
As many others have said on here, the sound clarity is what makes these 'phones so great. Everything just has a clear, rich feel to it. I even use them on my Game Boy Advance. Try it if you have one. They're comfortable for extended periods of time when they've been adjusted properly. The cord connecting the two phones is placed along your back to keep them out of your way. AT even includes a soft case in the package you can use to transport them safely. Fantastic.
The only downside, if you consider it one, is that the sound is too clear for Rock/Metal selections. These also might be fragile to some, as well - a single wire and a piece of rubber make the good-lookin' ear clip. Competing clip-ons use durable, plasic pieces. I managed to bend the piece a little from just putting the headphones back in the case, so just be sure to treat yours with care to ensure they last a while.
If these downsides are significant to you, consider the mind-blowingly inexpensive $13 Koss KSC75 Portable Stereophone Headphones. In some instances, those produce sound that rivals AT! Plus, KOSS provides $6 replacements for life. Just got tmine replaced after 2 years with no hassle and use them on the go. :)
The Audio Technica ATH-EM7s sound as good as they look. In summary, I like these headphones enough to login to Amazon and write a review. The last time I wrote a review was seven years ago.
I expected more, but i was satisfied July 22, 2010 Andrew Bonifacio The headphones look very nice and felt pretty light on the ear, but one concern i really had was the length of the cord. The length was just either too short or too long for me. I was thinking of getting a ipod shuffle gen 2 or 3 so i can clip it on to my lanyard. Still thats a lot of work. As for sound quality, as people said on other reviews, the bass isnt too loud. The treble is sometimes over the top, but the overall quality is very detailed. i love how these headphones are clip ons. These are my first pair of clip-ons and i am satisfied. I love the design of the headphone, looks very durable, and very sleak. Im sure these headphones will last me for a while.
Great headphones, relatively small gripes July 22, 2010 digitaldevil14 These are my first pair of headphones that weren't earbuds, so I was a little nervous about how well I would like them. After using them extensively, I have grown very fond of this pair.
They are much more comfortable than I thought they looked. Once I got used to putting them on I scarcely noticed they were there, and had minimal discomfort after wearing in excess of 8 hours. I have what I consider larger ears and they fit great, it was just a matter of adjusting the earpieces.
The sound quality was the biggest shock after earbuds - it is profoundly better. I heard quieter parts in songs that I hadn't heard before. The treble is powerful and beautiful. From what I've read, the biggest complaint is the lack of a booming bass, which is true. The bass still sounds good, though. It has a general clean, crisp sound. The difference is so great that I get cranky when I'm stuck using poorer sounding headphones now.
I think the headphones look cool, personally. Many others have told me they are dorky/cheap looking. How you feel about their look is up to you.
They have a J-type cord which I find far more comfortable/less obstructive than the more typical Y-cord. My biggest complaint about the headphones is the cord, however. The cord is far too short to connect to a device in my pants pocket, or even my computer when I have it in my lap. They come with a 1 meter extension cord to remedy this. This, however, makes it a bit too long, so you'll have to stuff 1-2 feet of cord in your pocket. Also, my extension cord broke after a couple of months, such that only the right headphone receives sound when plugged in through the extension. I've had a lot of trouble finding a replacement extension cord at a less-than-prohibitive length. I mostly just put my music device in my shirt pocket, which the shorter cord reaches fine.
Sound leakage is also something of a concern, as people around me can hear my music if I have it loud enough. If you want your music loud but can't be noisy, these might not be your ideal headphones. I use them on the street, commuting, in the halls at school, etc., and they cover ambient music without being obnoxious to people around me.
Biggest weakness of the headphones is the cord. Don't see why Audio Technica didn't make it a more convenient length. That's my only issue with the headphones, however. I am very fond of them and will probably buy Audio Tehcnica again in the future.
Great headphones for the price! July 14, 2010 shibbi (Ann Arbor, MI) I bought these headphones primarily because they were worn by the protagonist in Persona 3 on the PS2 and I loved the game. They work quite well for a pair of $50 headphones.
Sound: The sound quality is great, I showed it to one of my audiophile friends and he said it's great for headphones at this price. And I prefer listening through them than through my laptop's built-in speakers because audio just sounds more crisp and better on these.
Design: These 'phones look great. Pretty sleek. I'm a girl and I have hair covering my ears most of the time, so people can't tell I'm wearing them. But if your ears are not covered, these look pretty cool. The color is great, silver disks with black clips.
Comfort: I love how these clip-ons work. You can flip them open, put them on your ears, and clip them on. At first I couldn't get them to stay because you have to push them back so the clip fits snugly against your ear before clipping them on. They don't feel like anything for the first hour or so, but after that my ears itch a little, and if Iwear them longer they become sore. I wouldn't say this is a con, though, since clip-ons are not supposed to be more comfortable than over-the-ear phones. These are definitely better than in-ear headphones for your ears, because they're not as invasive.
Overall, these are great.
Problems July 7, 2010 MarleyCat (Sydney, Australia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Yes, these headphones reproduce great sound. Yes, they look awesome. Yes, they are comfortable and light, but they have many problems that prevent my recommendation.
1. Leaky, leaky noise.
Any noise higher than medium low means others around you can hear the sound from your phones. This is not a problem if you is on the street, but means volume has to be set low if you don't want to disturb your sleeping partner at night or be that annoying person on the train.
2. Cord tangles.
The cord is either way too long or way too short. Designed for inline volume control attachment, with the phone on your ears the cable won't reach past your belly button, meaning if your music device is in your pant pocket you have to use the provided 1 metre extension cable. This is the perfect length if you keep your music device in your shoe, otherwise you end up with a big cable pocket tangle.
3. Adjustable clips pluck hair.
The clips often grab and then pluck an individual hair out from above my ears when I remove the phones. This happens whether I have a shaved head or longer hair and is a painful design flaw.
4. Hissing noise.
As the phones provide high quality sound from your music device it will reproduce all audio output, like the white noise/ hissing sound from some poor quality devices. This is not an issue with an iPhone, but with my old laptop I can hear a hissing noise at every sound level. Curiously, the hiss is significantly less noticeable with poor quality headphones.
5. Damaged easily.
After 2 months of normal use, the cable became damaged and the left headphone stopped working. I had a cheap pair of Panasonic's that took over a decade to break in a similar fashion. Also, the metal bracket attaching the headphones to the clip is easily indented, although this has not affected its performance.
Overall, despite enjoying the sound quality and comfort of these headphones, given the opportunity I would not purchase them again.

The Audio Technica ATH-ANC7b, from audio-technica.com , are active/passive noise canceling headphones that fit comfortably and provide great audio fidelity. While active noise cancellation is on, and music is playing at a reasonable volume, the outside world is absolutely mute. The construction of the headphones seems sturdy and Audica Technica provides all the accessories you need. Two audio cables, two adapters, two batteries (only one is needed), and a quality hard case to protect and transport the headphones. The price is $220 making these headphones a pretty good bargain as well. For exclusive content follow me on twitter at twitter.com and check out my blog at michaelsherlock.com
