Product Description It's time to make the transition from VHS to DVD and there's no better way than adding the JVC DR-MV150B to your component home-theater system. Equipped with an ATSC digital tuner, this recorder will be able to capture programs from digital TV stations from an off the air antenna. It's DTV ready. While DVD in itself is not a high-definition media, using an HDMI cable to connect to a widescreen HDTV set, permits an (up to) 1080p upconversion. It's the perfect choice as you transition from VHS to DVD. It's like having the best of both worlds. HDMI Output with 1080p/720p Up-Conversion (DVD/VHS) i.LINK Connection (DV Input) SQPB on VHS (SVHS Quasi Play) Dolby Digital/DTS Digital Output (DVD) and Digital Output (VHS) Component/S-Video Outputs (DVD/VHS) DVD Recorder Combo Advantage VHS Playback via Same Output Connection as DVD Super MPEG Encode Pre-Processor Super MPEG Post Processor 10-bit/54MHz Video D/A Converter DVD< >VHS Dubbing 12-Hour DVD Recording (on Double-Sided Disc) One-Touch Recording Manual Timer Programming Playlist-based Editing (DVD) 1.5x Quick Playback with Sound (DVD) High-Resolution GUI (English/French/Spanish/Portuguese) Stylish, Slim Design Only 2-7/8 (71.5mm) High Timer Program 1-Month/up to 16-Programs Unit Dimensions WHD - 16-15/16 x 2-7/8 x 10-1/4 inch; 9.7 lbs

Working great! July 28, 2010 IVICDigital I have used this product for a couple of months.
Everything work just fine.
I have used DVD discs from different manufacturers and as long as I initialize, and later I finalize them, they work on other home DVD devices. The signal reception is great. Now I can see digital channels on my old analog TV and the picture is amazing even when my TV is not High Definition.
Dubbing also works very well. Of course you can not copy protected materials.
My unit is not a noising one, it performs smoothly.
Im very happy with it.
Good tv tuner included July 27, 2010 B Caldwell I bought this dvd-vcr recorder combo mainly to use its tv tuner for our home theater system. It's working fine for that. Haven't tried the recorder functions yet. The remote uses its up and down keys to change the tv channels, instead of dedicated channel keys, but otherwise seems normal enough.
brick mode June 30, 2010 B. Wilson (Brooklyn, NY USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have this unit. I bought it as a refurb from Tiger Direct. Most of its functions are fine. I am upset that unlike most VCR's, you cannot rewind to the last point that a recording was started. You have to rely on the counter to guess when the show began. But the reason I am giving it 1 star is because it locks up. Brick Mode. I thought it was because it was used, I was going to buy another one, until I read here that someone had the same history as I have with it and still had a problem. Now I'm stuck, I don't know what to get as a replacement.
I got exactly what I wanted June 22, 2010 Rena (Monterey, CA USA) In the past, I had my brother set up any type of electronic equipment. With this DVD/VCR, I was able to do it by myself. And, yes, it is true, it will record directly from cable television. Navigating to, say, timer recording is a bit awkward, but it's doable. My only regret is that I didn't think to try Amazon.com to buy it (I won't name the retailer, but Amazon.com is a bit less pricey). I look forward to many years of using this combo.
A little short on capability June 12, 2010 Dennis (MD) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this unit to convert old family vhs tapes to dvds. While it does that function adequately, I can't make multiple copies of the dvds to send to other family members without playing and copying the vhs tape again each time. Once created, dvd could not be copied by computer using media player either. I had to purchase separate burning software to do this. I have also heard from family members that they couldn't play the dvds on some of their equipment; although, in fairness, that may the fault of their equipment or my after market burning software. Overall, it is an ok product but would be much improved with the capability to burn multiple dvd copies from one vhs play cycle.
