3 out of 5 stars OK for the price   August 17, 2010
yasky (Chandler, AZ USA)
General: appearance and material has a cheap feeling. Even though it is a low price, but I expect a little better when other similar model does a better job in this area. Comes with carrying bag and lanyard cable. Very easy to use, switching between video, camera and playback mode.

Video: Quality is nothing comparing to the high price one like the HD version, but good enough for my 8-year old son. Inside recording is terrible. You will need lot of lights. Although the camera comes with a LED to illuminate the area, does not help much.

Picture: This one sucks. Quality is not any better than cheap phone camera, but I am not complaining this. My biggest issue is ... it takes a second of two after you press the button, before capturing. This often creates a blurry pic because the camera moves during this time, which is impossible for a kid, or especially me. In this technology age, no camera should have that large delay, no exception.

1 out of 5 stars Do not buy this camera   July 26, 2010

Do not buy this camera! It has never worked for me. As soon as I took it out of the package it would not charge. I tried to call Coby customer service to have it replaced as a warranty issue and they told me that I would have to pay to send it to them and I would have to pay to have them send it back to me. The customer service agent was rude and not at all helpful! I do not recommend any of their products. I will NEVER buy anything Coby again and I suggest you steer clear of these cheaply made products.

4 out of 5 stars Good for Kids   July 13, 2010
Kara
I bought this camera for my nephew's birthday. It is a good camera for a kid. He hasn't broken it yet, so it must be pretty durable. He likes that he can take pictures and video. However, the pictures do come out pretty blurry since his hands are not very steady. But if you are looking for a good first camera for a kid and not to worried about picture quality, I would say go for it.
I was kind of bummed that the batteries are not rechargable, but it actually ended up working out as he wanted to play with it right away and didnt want to wait for it to charge. The camera also has an auto shut off to save battery life when not in use.
Must be used in good light as the flash is poor.

4 out of 5 stars Great first camera / camcorder - tricky video editing   June 14, 2010
Richard P. Sanchez (kokomo, IN)
I use Adobe Creative Suite 4[OLD VERSIONsuite to edit videos with shots taken from this camera. Premier Pro will not take videos from this camera, neither will After Effects. Photoshop Extended will. So I put my videos in photoshop and turned them into Quick Time movies (from the camera's AVI format). Then Premier Pro and After Effects would edit with them. Here is a 10 minute little movie I made with them.:

The above movie does not depict the sound quality. I overlayed it with some recordings from a sound recording system. You can see near the end of the movie, the film gets a little shaky. This does not happen too often, but it does happen, especially in windy conditions. The more you move the camera the more likely the video quality can get bad. Usually the quality is good but some times not.

Here is a video I took of a VHS tape played on a TV. This represents the sound of the camera from about 6 feet:

3 out of 5 stars Good for beginners.   June 10, 2010
Sean Wilkinson (Florence, MS)
This little camera does what it is supposed to do. Picture quality is ok for it being 1.3 mega pixels. Audio quality on the other hand leaves something to be desired. It records audio decently except for the high pitch squeal that is in most of the recordings. I am not sure why it doesn't happen in all of them but the majority it does. One thing I wish was different is the batteries. It uses 4 AAA batteries and really it should come with a rechargeable battery. This is because it shortens the battery life when you use either the built in light or video preview often. This camera is great for beginners who do not want to spend a whole lot and want to try it out. If you plan on using it long term I would suggest spending a little more and getting something better.
