Product Description
Remember your first time listening through headphones? The JVC HA-NC250 refreshes the entire experience. Noise-cancelling headphones reduce unwanted ambient sounds (i.e., acoustic noise) by means of active noise control. You get to hear more of what you want to listen. The JVC HA-NC250 is an extremely effective pair of noise-cancelling headphones, with up to 85% noise reduction with feedback technology, as well as memory foam cushion and extremely smooth ear-pad surface that isolate background noise effectively. Use the HANC250 as a pair of normal headphones when the noise-cancel mode is turned off. Turn down the noise and listen. It's like hearing for the first time. The headphone uses a 40mm neodymium driver in each earpiece. For comfort and portability, the JVC HA-NC250 is one of the lightest headphones in its class, weighing just 5.3 ounces. It folds flat, and when folded is slimmer than most competing models. Included with the HA-NC250 are a slim carrying case, a four-foot detachable cord, airline dual plug adapter, and -inch plug adapter for use with many home audio and video components. The headphones use a single 1.5-volt AAA battery for powering the noise cancellation circuitry. Battery life is rated at up to 50 hours (alkaline). Whether you're listening to your portable or your home sound system, the HA-NC250 are a natural match. Memory Foam cushion earpads. Also function as regular headphones

5 out of 5 stars Great purchase!   February 25, 2010

I recently took a "road warrior" job and knew I'd be spending a large amount of time in aiplanes in the future. I read many of the reviews here, including the many different types of Bose Quiet Comfort headphones, and always found myself coming back to this set. The price was unbeatable for the quality and the reviews were quite good. I used them immediately after receiving them, and haven't taken out the old ear bud set since. The noise reduction really is good - I find it effectively reduces and sometimes even eliminates outside conversations around me, and the sound quality is very good, also. The longest I've worn them is about 4 hours, and I haven't gotten "hot ear" or even any kind of soreness at all. I love the hard shell case the headphones came with, and while yes, it's a bit bulky, I know that my investment is well protected. The zippered pocket inside is also handy, which holds the cord (detaches at both ends in case you just want the headphones on for noise reduction), my earrings, an extra battery and my business card.

I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone who is in the market for a quality, well-priced pair.

I bought these in September 2009 after much research. It was Bose or JVC. Bose was three times the cost and, after reading the reviews, didn't seem worth three times the cost. Thus far I have flown on several domestic flights, two flights to the Middle East and one flight to Europe with the JVC headphones. Wow - I can't believe I've been flying all these years without noise canceling headphones. Ambient noise reduction is about 80% in the lower frequencies (such as the roar of a jet engine). This product is comfortable. The max time I wore the headphones was 13 hours and after about 10 or so hours, my ears were started to hurt from the pressure. Yet not having them on was worse! I would just take them off for about 5 minutes and be good to go. Music reproduction was fine and enhanced by the noise canceling effect. It has a nice, sturdy carrying case with a zippered pocket for accessories. Others have criticized the battery location inside the left speaker assembly. Yeah, it's a little weird. That said, changing the battery is easy and battery life is long: like 15-20 hours. I am very satisfied.

They are simply poorly constructed. I had them for about a year when the middle part (the band that would be roughly on the top of your head cracked. I was able to fix that with tape. Now (about 6 months later) the left ear piece has simply cracked off the side of the headphones, rendering them unusable. The sound was fine, but nothing special. I would have given them three stars before this happened. I should mention that I work in an office, always keep them in a case, and have never abused or dropped them in any way. This is completely normal usage I'm talking about here.

5 out of 5 stars Every now and then you fing a gem   February 9, 2010

I just finished a trip involving 4 flights. These things are fantastic. They absolutely eliminate the low frequency noise from the engines.

I always get pretty bad earaches when flying, and my ears get really stopped up. With this headset I did not get earaches on any of the flights. My ears did stop up a little but not as bad as they usually do where they would eventually pop and hurt really bad.

Its great during take-offs and landings too. The lower noise level really takes a lot of the stress out of those.

This is not a very technical review, it was not intended to be. But I am extremely happy with the performance and the price of this headset.

Music quality is not bad either, but obviously don't expect the performance of much higher priced sets without noise reduction.

I have been very pleased with these headphones. My last set was an older Bose over the ear set which was also very nice. I had an unfortunate incident and they broke. And, the newer generation Bose headphones just cost too much for my use. This headset is as good as the older Bose I had and includes noise cancellation. A plus is that they continue to function when the battery dies, and you know when that's happening because of odd behavior. Just reah up and turn off noise cancellation and replace the batteries when you have time.

www.noisefreeheadphones.com . The new JVC HA-NC250 combines outstanding sound quality with advanced noise-canceling and isolation technologies to provide a superior listening experience. The HA-nc250s noise cancellation circuitry includes feedback technology that constantly monitors the noise cancellation process. As a result, the headphones eliminate up to 85 percent of extraneous background noise. To further block noise, the HA-NC250 offers two JVC innovations that help isolate the listener from outside sounds. First, each earpiece employs a double housing structure for an extra sound insulation layer. Second, JVC developed a new technique for attaching the headphones smooth memory foam cushioned ear pads to the housing that helps isolate background noise. The smooth pads also enhance comfort.
