2 out of 5 stars Not bad but not great!   July 30, 2010
Tina
To be honest I am a little disappointed with this product. Although, a sleek and reasonable classy way to house your Kindle for the money I expected more. It is not high quality leather and I have found it get's unusual lumps particularly on the back after your kindle molds into the case. Not sure I like any of the alternatives as much so I would likely buy again but it could and should be better!

Should come with the Kindle. I can't imagine having a Kindle without the protective cover. Looks good.

2 out of 5 stars Cover Quality Poor   July 27, 2010
Vella C. Draughon (Clovis, CA United States)
I purchased the Kindle when it was at the $500 range. Of course I wanted a cover to protect such a fine instrument. The first cover which came seemed to have the back portion damaged. It looked warped and felt that way too. I returned it for a replacement. When the replacement came, it was damaaged in the same way but this time it was the front of the cover. I requested a refund and have no cover for my Kindle. I wrote a formal letter with the returned items and suggested quality control look at this situation. If anybody did notice it, I have not been informed. Sad---such an expensive Kindle needs a cover. I may make a fleece bag of sorts to put it in. I notice recommendation not to leave this baby in the sun or excessive heat. Well, we are in Central California where it gets well over l00 in the summer. Forget and leave it in the car.....well, you can see. I have been enjoying the Kindle, though with the heat restrictions and reminders from others about protecting the screen, I hardly count it as portable as they are advertising. This is an Amazon Verified Purchase.

1 out of 5 stars Kindle DX leather Cover ( Black )   July 26, 2010
Gerry Cullen (Wicklow Town ROI.)
The kindle leather cover is badly designed it attaches to the Kindle through two slots on the side of the kindle between the white face
and the kindle
On the first day I found this started to seperated the white plastic face to the point of breaking I no longer use it
The fault seems to be the two slots are positioned on the join between the white plastic frame and the kindle.

5 out of 5 stars Kindle cover   July 24, 2010

The cover is very nice looking. It is easy to grip so no dropping my kindle. Also, it folds back on itself so the kindle is normal size when reading.

Just me reviewing the Amazon Kindle DX.

Thanks to the friendly people at Amazon, I was able to spend about 2 weeks with the Amazon Kindle DX, and it was an interesting experience. Here are my thoughts. The Kindle DX addresses most of my complaints about the original Kindle, namely the horrible industrial design and the small display size. It also improves upon its sibling, the Kindle 2, by adding PDF support and screen auto-rotation (which can be disabled). Lets be honest I absolutely hated the look and feel of original Kindle! I realize this is a matter of personal taste, but it turned me off the device completely. Amazon remedied this first with the Kindle 2, and now with the Kindle DX, which is well proportioned, clean, and cohesive. The industrial design is further enhanced by the small (compared to the original Kindle and Kindle 2) screen bezel The Kindle DX is thin, with a tasteful brushed metal back, a power switch & a standard 3.5 mm audio connector on the top edge, and speakers & a standard micro-USB connector (for charging and transferring data) on the bottom edge. Its reasonably light, although it can be uncomfortable to hold for longer periods of time. The E-ink display dominates the front of the Kindle DX, with a QWERTY keyboard at the bottom, and all other controls on the right edge, including a 5-way joystick for navigation. The larger screen makes a lot more sense for an E-book than the smaller one used in the original Kindle and Kindle 2 none of these devices are pocketable, so why not maximize ...
