4 out of 5 stars Excellent for the price   August 27, 2010

No a bad entry HD camcorder.
Very simple to use.
Point and shoot out of the box.

Uploading to my mac is very simple.
23 min gap might be annoying to most but easily
fix during post production.

Time laps is great. Something I look for in a camera.

Chosen this camera because of the Minolta Lens.
Also my Lensbaby Tele and Wide angle attachment fits perfectly.

Generally I would use my DSLR for all still shots.
So took some snaps and the pictures where pretty good in daylight.
At night it gets grainy. With the spot meter you have to be dead
on in the selected zone or everything flushes out.
I think what's missing is a manual aperture setting.
Then both will be resolved.

Not the best camera I've shot with but it's small and great for on the go cam.

(
took a shot at the moon right after I received it.

Whit the camera it's OK, but the edition software is very poor. I ask JVC about other software, but, from JVC Brazil they only said that's an imported product and, from USA JVC, I don't have any answer.
I try the software Vegas from Sony but it don't recognize the camera. Now I pretend try the Pinnacle. Can someone help me?

5 out of 5 stars Amazing HD Quality   July 12, 2010

This camcorder is a replacement to a Sony DVD camcorder I had a few years ago. The quality difference is amazing. The quality inside is good in a well lit room and only average in a poorly lit room but that is typical with any camcorder under 1000. The outside quality is amazing, it really blows me away on DVD I made using the XP recording format. UXP is the best quality but XP is the best you can burn to a DVD. It looks almost blu ray disk quality, it will really blow you away. This is my 4th camcorder and the software included is actually not bad, if all you want to do create simple dvd's with it. It user friendly and has a few nice options, more advanced users will need to pick up better software but it is better than the basic software I have ever recived with any of my previous sony camcorders. You can even record in UXP format and have it converted just for burning to dvd purposes to xp format, that way you still have it in the best quality incase you ever get a Blu Ray burner which is also supported by this software by the way. I got this from Amazon for only $369, that is a amazing deal.

3 out of 5 stars GZHD500 (good if you find it for $400 or less)   May 12, 2010

Cons:
Any photo shot (it is have 2 Megapixels) inside is extremely grainy, even in the daytime.

Recording longer than 23 minutes it is breaks into 23 minute segments.

Its a good camera if you are using it outdoors. This cannot be used
in doors, even with bright lights. The video is dark and granny.

The "laser touch" feature looks cool, but actually using it is awful. It's really nothing more than an up / down slider that glows blue, and is terribly inaccurate.

Not have light, no remote control.

The battery life is poor.

Not have a menu setting to get out the words in the display.

The snapshot and zoom buttons are a little uncomfortable.

The software is very poor.

Pros:
Full HD 1920x1080 Recording videos (outside only)
HDMI out put port is 1080p.
HDMI® (V.1.3 with x.v.Color(tm))
24Mbps High Bit Rate Recording
Advanced Image Stabilizer
20x optical zoom.
The camera size is comfortable unless you have a great hand.
Advanced Image Stabilizer
1.37 Megapixel CMOS Sensor
24Mbps High Bit Rate Recording
Konica Minolta HD Lens
80GB Built-in HDD
micro SD/SDHC Card Slot

Recommendations:
Use UXP resolution option always.
Use a category 2 HDMI cable always.
